When Hannah and Scott said they wanted to do winter engagement photos at our initial meeting, I got a little giddy. Granted, there are a lot of logistics and challenges with planning winter photos, but it can be so worth it. After some idea-tossing, they decided to go full in-the-mountains-snowy-winter for their pictures and chose Red Rock Lake in the Brainard Lake Recreational Area near Ward.
As a Colorado mountain wedding photographer, it's my passion to create photos that are outdoors, adventurous, and wall-worthy. These two love birds were crazy adventurous and trusting, allowing me to drag them through 4 ft snow drifts and across a frozen lake. As is common during winter in the mountains, we had gusty winds and windchill temperatures in the teens. We stuffed our boots and gloves with hand-warmers and had a blast in the snow.
The Brainard Lake area is so beautiful in all seasons. During the summer, the road is open to the lake with many accessible trailheads, including hikes to Lake Isabelle (where Brian and I got engaged!) and to the summit of a nearby 13er: Mount Audubon.
During the winter, snowshoe and cross-country ski trails dominate the area with busy foot traffic by winter enthusiasts.
Hannah and Scott are planning a beautiful wedding at Spruce Mountain Ranch and I cannot wait for their big day!
