I totally admit: I'm a slightly competitive person. I try to stay away from situations where my drive to win (at any cost) is triggered and focus on light-hearted competition.
Enter: Shoot & Share 2017 Photo Contest. This contest hosted by Shoot & Share is truly one-of-a-kind. It is the world’s only free and totally fair photo contest. Each individual can enter up to 50 photos in 25 different categories. Anyone can enter photos, and it’s totally free! Once voting begins, four images are randomly tiled for you to review and vote for your favorites. No one knows who took the photos, but everyone votes for the winners. The photos with the most votes win!
This year's contest specs were pretty darn mind-blowing!
Photo entered: 332,768
Votes cast: 49+ Million from more than 141 different countries by more than 100,000 people
I spent weeks culling and reviewing photos from last year that I felt would have a chance. Finally settling on my top 50, I entered and the voting began!
As the Rounds began, photos that received the least number of votes were eliminated and only the top voted photos continued to the next Round.
By Round 12, approximately the top 500 photos from each category remained.
Once the Top 100 photos are narrowed down in each category, the Best of the Best voting begins while votes are tallied, winners determined, and results are announced.
I was THRILLED to find out that one of our couples' wedding photos PLACED 39th out of 4,317 photos in a category called "That Just Happened", and 5 other images made it to Finalist (Round 12, top 500 in each category).
There is SO SO SO much amazing talent and such a variety of INCREDIBLE photos that were entered. And I have to brag a little on the Colorado photographers who OWNED the contest this year! I'm active in a Facebook group of more than 1,000 female professional photographers. Many of them entered in the contest and as a group, we placed in so many categories and several of the women won 1st, 3rd, and 4th places!
Oh and I gotta brag on my hubby Brian too! He's been shooting with me just a tiny bit (shhhhh! Don't tell him!) and I selected one of his photos from our latest wedding (Karen and Ed, boom!) to enter. It made it to the top 20%!
Alright, enough chit-chat. Let's get to the real results and photos!
