It's hard to believe that I first met these two amazing souls back at the beginning of the year, on one of the most beautiful winter days Colorado has seen yet. They drove all the way from Kansas City to enjoy a week in our beautiful state, and connected with me to grab some engagement photos during their visit. Our time together was so fun that day! We explored around the Silverthorne and Dillon area, and finished their session at the Dillon Ice Castles! If you missed their photos, catch up here.
As an off-handed farewell to them at the close of their engagement session, I told them that I travel and would love the chance to be their wedding photographer back home in Missouri. And you guys.... THEY BOOKED!!!!
Lindsey and Jeff met on ChristianMingle.com. They are both very driven people and were focused on their professional careers, so it was difficult to balance long work hours with enjoying a social life of any sort. Their first official date was at a local restaurant in KC, called Yard House back in 2015. With their common passion for the nursing field and love for God, it was obvious from early on these two were meant for one another. And just three weeks ago they tied the knot on a HOT, amazing summer day at the Weston Red Barn Farm.
Jeff planned a trip to a favorite place, a small town in central Missouri called Hermann. It's a tiny German town that is known for its vineyards and quaint feel. While they were enjoying views of the Missouri River and wine valley on top of a bluff, Jeff dropped to a knee on the hillside and asked her to be my forever. And of course, SHE SAID YES.
I just adore these two. With their love of traveling, passion for others and their faith, it was a true honor to get to know them as friends over the past months. They chose the Weston Red Barn Farm as the backdrop for their wedding, for its rustic country vibe and amazing countryside views. With flights, hotel, and rental car booked, we were all set! My 2nd shooter and close friend, Christina, and I set off on a new adventure to Missouri. We arrived the day before their wedding and were welcomed like family to their rehearsal and dinner festivities. It was a joy to see them surrounded by so much love and support.
Their wedding day arrived in what I assume to be true midwest fashion: muggy and hot. Lindsey was all grins as she was pampered and prepared. Jeff shared laughs with his closest guys. The girls arrived to the venue to finish getting dressed, and discovered a slight (I mean.... large) hiccup with Lindsey's dress. The zipper had come apart and wouldn't zip up! We all had a small panic attack and were prepared to sew Lindsey into her dress, when one of the florists stepped in as a GODSEND to fix her zipper. Lindsey kept her cool and in thirty LONG minutes, the bride was dressed.
Lindsey and Jeff opted to do a "first touch" before seeing each other, and read letters they wrote to one another. As they turned around for their First Look, the world stood still for just a moment. "The anticipation of seeing the one you love in their wedding dress / suit for the first time was pretty magical".
From their hand-made wood ceremony cross, to EVERY HAND-WRITTEN SIGN Lindsey made, no detail was left undone. Their creativity and hard work paid off as their guests enjoyed drinks, good food, and even a cigar bar late into the night.
The couple's biggest wedding planning advice: "As not to sound cliche, just enjoy the moment and day. Don't worry about the small things, everything doesn't have to be absolutely perfect - be there with family and friends and enjoy the comradary."
I could go on and on and on. But without further ado, here is a sneak peek of their wedding day highlights. CONGRATS, you two! So much love!
