Once a year, Shoot & Share hosts one of the largest blind photo contests in the world. The Photo Contest is a completely fair contest with 25 categories where each submitted photo is shown to the voters in a quad of four photos, 48 times. You are allowed to enter up to 50 photos. There are 12 rounds plus a finals round to narrow down the Top 100 and 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place for each category. No photographer information is provided, voting is based solely on the images presented.
This year 583,150 photos were submitted. And it's completely addicting.
I entered for the first time three years ago and managed to bring home one finalist award, along with 16 photos in the Top 30% or better. Last year, one photo made Top 100, placing 45th out of 16,373 in its category! Each year, the competition gets a little stiffer and the images are more jaw-dropping. Oh, and voting takes over regular scheduled life for four weeks.
This year, it wasn't difficult finding 50 photos to submit. I had so many incredible couples and adventurous photo opportunities, my options were vast. From each session and wedding, there are usually a small handful of photos that speak to my heart most. I went through all my client folders to select one or two from each and narrowed down the photos I believe would go the furthest in the Photo Contest.
We are in ROUND 8 of the Photo Contest (voting ends March 3!) and I have at least 1 confirmed photo still in! As usual, I'm DYING to know which photos are still being voted for and cannot wait for the final results in a month.
In the meantime, I wanted to share the images I chose to submit for this year's Photo Contest! I've included the categories for each as well.
Lastly, GO VOTE!
