Taylor and Ruston's Colorful Urban Wedding at Skylight Denver - Downtown Wedding Photographer -

I know, I say it a lot. But seriously, I just adore Taylor and Ruston! They are quiet and quirky, sweet and gracious, and filled with joy. These two love birds recently spent 3.5 years living in the Netherlands and moved to Colorado just a few months ago. I met up with them in Estes Park for engagement photos in February, and am honored to have been park of their special day.

They chose Skylight for its modern mix of rustic and industrial elements. They were most excited about seeing their families together for the first time and sharing vows that would begin the next chapter of their lives.

We were blessed with a PERFECT spring day in Colorado for their March nuptials. As bazaar as it sounds, just three days before their wedding we experienced the "snow-pocalypse" of 2019. Earlier in the week, the Front Range of Colorado was hit with a freak blizzard that halted schools, shut down businesses, and created a pretty darn good mess of things. But Saturday (their wedding), most of the snow was gone and we have temps in the 60s.

Taylor and Ruston wanted to incorporate the vibrant colors around their venue. The Santa Fe Art District of Denver is a colorful, unique area with galleries, coffee shops, and budding commerce. The old alleys mix with the new construction to create a fun vibe that photographs beautifully. We arrived to the venue with plans to use a vibrant wall as the backdrop for their First Look. It was the perfect spot for them to share a moment together, all while being congratulated by passing car honks.

Their ceremony was strong, God-centered, and heart-felt. It was only the second-ever wedding I've photographed with a foot washing ceremony. I am so honored to have been witness to such an intimate and beautiful gesture. They both washed one another's feet to represent the promise to always serve each other. And within a few minutes, they shared an epic first kiss and their forever began!

The rest of their day was filled with good food, LOTS of laughs, a live brand (shoutout to Diamond Empire Band!), and a few late night downtown photos on Santa Fe Avenue.

Taylor and Ruston, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for including me in your big day. We had such a blast and hope you two enjoy your first year as a married couple.
