A Rustic Winter Mountain Wedding at Taharaa Lodge – Estes Park Wedding – Colorado Wedding Photos

Laura and Wes’s journey began during the pandemic in late 2020. They met online and shortly after met up in person for a date at St. Marks Coffeehouse. It was a warm Friday afternoon which allowed them to sit outside. Laura remembers seeing Wes for the first time and crushing a little bit over Wes’ smile. They quickly bonded over their shared love of nerdy podcasts.

During the long days of COVID, they got to know one another doing house projects (including building a shed!) and building a team relationship that was the solid foundation for their future. Their home became a very special place during this time and they found they really enjoyed walking to local neighborhood restaurants. One evening, after walking home from dinner, Wes surprised Laura with a ring in their backyard. And of course, she said YES!

These two enjoy doing life together: skiing, hiking, spending time in the mountains. They love adventuring together whether it’s a big trip or a simple night in cooking dinner together.

Laura and Wes chose Taharaa Lodge for it’s beautiful mountain location and easy access. Their December wedding day arrived cold and clear, but we were blessed with snow on the ground from previous storms. Wes was all smiles when I arrived and Laura was sipping bubbles while having her hair and makeup done. Soon, her mom helped her get into her stunning dress and she walked out to share a first reveal with her dad. After a few tears and hugs, it was time for Wes to see her and they laughed and cried in ankle deep snow surrounded by mountains. This sweet moment was one their favorite memories of their wedding along with the crazy intense dance party!

I’m so honored to have ended our 2022 year with Laura and Wes! Their wedding day was very special and their passionate love for one another is a beautiful thing.

The couple’s biggest wedding planning advice: “It’s a lot but on the day of, trust your vendors and just try to enjoy 🙂 During that wedding day take time to step back and look out at everyone. For the bride, have your hair and makeup done 1st so you don’t feel rushed while getting ready.”
