Amanda and Colin met back in 2009 during an AmeriCorps orientation in New Orleans. Neither of them knew it, but they both had crushes on each other. They became good friends initially but lost touch as the years went by.
They reconnected in 2017 and the sparks flew again. That December, Amanda flew to Colorado from Baltimore to visit and share a first date with Colin at the Denver Botanical Gardens. They shared hot cocoa and explored the holiday lights on a crisp evening and immediately realized they had something.
Colin fell in love with Amanda's kindness and her unique passions for animals (including raising chickens!) and gardening. Amanda adores Colin's shared love for animals and his laugh. They love to eat (I knew we were a great fit!) and be outdoors hiking. They also have a small zoo... including fur and feather babies of all sorts! In addition to chickens, they have dogs, cats, a rabbit, and honeybees!
Two years later, they had created a holiday advent calendar with small gifts for each other and their pets. Colin hid a ring inside the calendar box for their second anniversary date of December 18 and proposed to Amanda in her hometown surrounded by her family.
When it came time to plan their dream wedding, they fell in love with Wild Basin Lodge (for good reason!). When the pandemic hit earlier this year, their plans had to change but they decided to still get married on their original date with a smaller group of family and friends. Surrounded by mountain views, fall colors, and beautiful sunlight these two had the most perfect wedding day.
I met Amanda and Colin over drinks and appis at Lazy Dog in Westminster in early March. We had a great time chatting about their chickens and wedding dreams! I feel so blessed to have such great clients. Amanda is the sweetest person and it's 10000% apparent how much Colin loves her.
When Brian and I arrived to Wild Basin Lodge in September for their nuptials, Amanda was all smiles and Colin had a nervous energy about him that was contagious. When they were both ready, they shared a first look that I will never forget. In fact, it's one of their favorite wedding memories too!
"We decided to do a first look before the wedding ceremony. Colin’s face when he turned around and saw me for the first time was something I’ll never forget!"
They also shared a Navajo carafe tradition, drinking from the same carafe simultaneously as a new husband and wife. "I kept getting all of the wine and then eventually spilled while trying to make sure Colin got some. It was not our most graceful moment but showed our silly and playful sides!"
Amanda's biggest wedding planning advice: "Find vendors you truly connect with and who feel like family / friends. Our vendors were all amazing to work with! Due to Covid, our wedding was very small and intimate... we actually ended up loving this! Don’t feel pressured to having a big wedding if something more low-key sounds appealing!"
I'm so thrilled to show off some of my favorite moments from their special day! Congrats to you both! You both deserve the world!
