DeAngela & Joseph's Rainy Mountain Wedding at Wild Basin Lodge - Estes Park, Colorado Photography

DeAngela and Joseph met during rather hard circumstances, when Joseph's cousin was in the hospital. They later reconnected when Joseph spotted her at a comedy club some time later, which sparked an eight-year friendship. They became best friends, but didn't actually date for many years. Joseph said at some point, "it kind of just clicked and made sense" and they shared a first date out to dinner and a paint & sip event!

Shortly after they began dating, during a drive Joseph suddenly pulled off the road and hopped out of the car to take a photo of the stunning sunset. It was at that moment that they realized they were kindred spirits and shared a passion for the stunning Colorado mountains and sunsets. They continued to build a relationship of compassion, humor, and self growth.

When it came time to take the next step, Joseph had done a bit of sneaky reconnaissance work to find a jewelry store in Jamaica, with plans to buy a ring and propose to DeAngela during their cruise. After making the climb up Dunn's River Falls near Ocho Rios, Joseph surprised her and asked her to marry him. She said YES!

These two originally had grand plans for their wedding in August 2020. Unfortunately, as with so many other couples, the pandemic ruined their plans so they decided to postpone the big day until they felt it safe for family and friends to celebrate. They chose Wild Basin Lodge for it's simple beauty and great staff. Their love for sunsets inspired their choice of wedding colors: navy, cream, and a terracotta burnt orange.

While we were all hopeful for the quintessential clear sunny Colorado day, August 26 arrived foggy and wet. In a twist of irony, the unpredictability of our weather here could also be considered pretty quintessential as well. These two weren't even slightly phased by the chilly temps and misty showers. The dramatic clouds and sky were perfect.

After sharing a tear-filled First Look, we enjoyed a bit of sun for their wedding party photos. And shortly later, guests began to arrive and their ceremony got started. They chose a few traditional elements in their ceremony, including a foot washing ceremony and jumping the broom! Soon it was time to celebrate the night away!

When asked about their favorite wedding memories, DeAngela responded with "Our first dance on the river deck at Wild Basin Lodge, while my sister sang "You" by Jesse Powell." and Joseph's favorite memory: "When I first saw DeAngela as she walked down the aisle, when we were introduced at the reception and came out dancing and also our first dance."

The couple's biggest wedding planning advice: "Get help! Be sure to work together. Keep communicating. Take it all in and be present. Lastly hire an excellent photographer."

Congrats, you two! Truly, I'm honored to have been a small part of your big day. May you have many years of blessings, travel, and smiles.
