Maegan & Shaw's Winter Scottish Wedding at Deer Creek Mountain Camp - Colorado Wedding Photography

I can't believe Maegan and Shaw's wedding has already come and gone! Gosh, where do I begin with these two?! They planned the most perfect winter wedding at Deer Creek Mountain Camp in December and shared their day with a great group of friends and family.

Maegan and Shaw met in college through mutual dorm friends on campus. The day before Shaw left for Scotland (where he's from!), he asked Maegan to be his girlfriend. When he returned home a month later, they shared their first date at Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream. Maegan quickly fell in love with Shaw's grand dreamer spirit and ability to make her smile and Shaw loves Maegan's eagerness for adventure.

They quickly settled into a long-term relationship, and after 9 years together they flew to Scotland for the second time to spend Christmas in 2019. While visiting Shaw's grandparents in the village in which he grew up, they decided to hike to the top of a local mountain. It was a cold, sunny Christmas Eve day when they started the climb, and by the top of the mountain it had turned foggy and cloudy. They had the entire summit to themselves and when the time was right, Shaw dropped to one knee and asked Maegan to spend forever with him. As Maegan shivered in the cold, she said YES!

These two dreamed of a picturesque winter wedding in the mountains and Deer Creek Mountain Camp was the perfect backdrop for their nuptials. December in Colorado (even in the mountains!) can be iffy for snow, as we have many Decembers that are dry. Fortunately, Mother Nature was on our side and gave a beautiful blanket of white snow just prior to their wedding day.

While it was cold, Maegan and Shaw shared a first look to read their vows together surrounded by aspens, deer, and mountains. Meagan's favorite wedding day memory was this moment too! "Mine was our first look, it was so intimate and listening to Shaw read his vows made me cry!"

Their short and sweet ceremony gave way to a warm cocktail hour by the fireplace along with a fun dance party and sparkler exit. These two were even adventurous enough to ride to the camp's mountain summit in a Jeep and hike the snowy rocks to the top for photos!

Maegan and Shaw have grand plans to travel together in the coming years and are looking at traveling to Thailand for their honeymoon. In Maegan's words, "We have an incredibly long list of destinations we want to visit together!" I know that feeling so well!

Their biggest wedding planning advice: "I am a type-A person so I planned our entire wedding myself, my only regret is not having someone I paid to be my day of coordinator instead of feeling like I was bossing my family and friends around all day even though they all told me to haha!"

I'm so happy for you guys! Congrats and so much love to you both!
