Stephanie and Ian met in May of 2013, right after college had ended for the summer. They both attended a small gathering at a friend's house, and while neither of them expected the night to go the way it did, a twist of fate brought them together. After a few drinks and laughs, their connection sparked a fire that would turn into a life long burn. Their first date included a beach walk on Lake Niagra and exploring a nearby cliff, leaving the two of them breathless and in love.
After dating for a year, they decided to move to Denver and start up a business. They spent a few years building their dream and adventuring in their new state. Fast forward to Christmas Eve of 2019. Stephanie had just gotten done with a long and stressful shift at work. Ian's family was in town to visit for the holiday, so Ian picked her up and went to Garden of the Gods to unwind a bit before dinner. He had a ring burning a hole in his pocket and a bottle of their favorite champagne in the car. But before they arrived to Garden of the Gods, Stephanie found the bottle and abruptly asked Ian to stop at the next pull off to celebrate Christmas, leaving Ian flustered and anxious with his plans.
As Stephanie got out to open the champagne, Ian went to grab the ring but she asked for help opening the bottle. As Ian approached her, the car headlights turned off. He quickly pocketed the ring and turned the lights back, and just as Stephanie turned around, he dropped to a knee to ask her to marry him. She screamed YES several times, and they popped champagne to celebrate, arriving to their family dinner with a new ring on Stephanie's finger.
These two discovered Deer Creek Mountain Camp outside of Denver and instantly fell in love with the venue. They planned a late summer wedding complete with a ceremony site in the aspens, mountaintop views for their portraits, and dancing in the cutest A-frame cabin.
Their favorite wedding memory was their First Look: "This was the first time we got to see each other alone the entire day, we had written private vows for each other. The moment was absolutely heart-stopping. Pure bliss."
The couple's biggest wedding planning advice: "Don’t sweat the small stuff (especially day of) no one will know if you forgot anything but you two."
