Tara & Kenny's Mountain Engagement Adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park - Sarah Goff Ph

When Tara and Kenny reached out to me about their summer 2019 wedding in Vail, I will admit - I may have squealed a little inside. Mountain weddings are my favorite and this would be no exception. Tara and Kenny are from Colorado, but moved to Florida for grad school. Their hearts still lie in Colorado, so it was a no-brainer to have their wedding here in the beautiful heart of the country.

Originally these two weren't going to be home before the week of their wedding and we hadn't planned on doing engagement photos, so when Tara emailed and asked if I had any available days right before their wedding for engagement photos I was thrilled! I feel like doing engagement photos prior to the wedding is a key element to ensuring that wedding photos run smooth and effortlessly. We learn about each other: how the couple interacts in front of the camera, how I work as your photographer, and the lingo I use during photos.

And even better: they asked if they could bring their fur pup along for a few photos. Double win!

We met in Rocky Mountain National Park on a beautiful, sunny summer day. The forecast had called for 60% of rain / storms that afternoon so we met a few hours early to try to beat the storms. As it turned out, no storms ever came! Haha, that's the beauty and challenge of this state. The weather is SO hard to predict and work around.

There are a few spots in the park that are my favorite. They offer unparalleled views of sharp mountain peaks, grassy fields, the quiet shade of aspen groves, and valley vistas. We enjoyed exploring along Bear Lake Road and capturing this special time in Tara and Kenny's lives. Just three short days later, these two were married at the Donovan Pavilion in Vail! I can't wait to share more from their wedding, it was spectacular!

In the meantime, here are a few of my favorites from our afternoon in Rocky Mountain National Park. Congrats, you two!
