A Colorado Mountain Wedding in Vail with an American-Indian Fusion - Rocky Mountain Wedding Photogra

When Sweetly Paired Weddings owner Lilli put me in touch with Tara and Kenny for their summer Vail wedding, I knew we'd be a great fit! These two beautiful people are quirky, gracious, and so unique.

Tara and Kenny met in Boulder back in 2013 after a mutual friend set them up on a pseudo double-blind date to Japango, a sushi restaurant. They were both in Med school and quickly became best friends sharing many similar hobbies and passions. They had talked about getting engaged right after taking their first medical licensing exams and had a trip to Puerto Rico planned with Tara's parents. Someone spilled the beans about their engagement and more of Tara's family wanted to come along! Her aunt and uncle brought some traditional Indian decor and a saree for Tara so that they could have a proper Indian engagement. Kenny still wanted the element of surprise, so the day after their exams, while in the airport, he handed Tara a book of 20 reasons why he loved her and dropped to a knee to ask her to marry him.

They chose the Donovan Pavilion in Vail as the perfect excuse for a mountain wedding and to share the beauty of Colorado. The day came and went without a hitch; even the weather was 100% perfect. Lilli made sure every little detail of their wedding was taken care of and everyone celebrated until late into the night.

The couple had a beautifully executed ceremony that was a fusion of cultures. The majority of the ceremony was Indian tradition, with the couple exchanging vows and rings as in American culture.

Tara and Kenny's favorite wedding memory: "No one telling us what to do with that banana!" Haha, part of the traditional Indian ceremony is for the couple to feed each other a banana. Tara was handed the banana, but didn't realize she was supposed to share it with Kenny. They shared a first kiss, while Tara held that darn banana.

And lastly, the couple's biggest advice for couple's planning their own weddings: "Everyone has their own opinions on how things should be done. Just try to remember that even if you don't agree with them, everyone is trying to make your big day perfect because they love you."
