Shelby and Dawson met at Northeastern Junior college through a roommate of Dawson's. Their first date was a movie night where Dawson's roommate made it apparent that it was a big deal he paid for Shelby's $2 movie ticket ... and the rest is history. These two share a passion for farming his family's farm near Kersey and it became quickly apparent during the wedding planning process that having their wedding on the farm was the perfect choice.
Their proposal story is totally them. Shelby received a phone call from her dad during a meeting, letting it go to voicemail. Shortly after, her dad texted her with "Congratulations, that was awfully nice of Dawson!" Catching her off guard, Shelby called him immediately and they realized he had spilled the surprise beans! Upon arriving home to a box of chocolates on the counter, Shelby knew what was happening and avoided the box the entire evening. Finally, Dawson threw the box at Shelby, told her to open it, and got down on one knee. And of course, SHE SAID YES.
They decided to have a fall wedding on the family farm. At one point during the planning process, Shelby said to me "we are really trying to class up a farm wedding". And boy, did they! From the incredible flowers (by her aunt, Linda with Finishing Touches!) and the heart-shaped ceremony site in the corn field to the custom windmill blade chandelier and grain silo bar, every last detail was carefully thought out. This year was also Chesnut Farms' 100th Centennial Year, what an honor!
Their wedding day arrived hot and sunny. By the end of the ceremony, clouds and wind had moved in, and at the end of the night, we departed to a full BLIZZARD. Oh, Colorado. You never cease to keep us on our toes.
Shelby and Dawson shared a first look together in their backyard. During their ceremony, they planted a Chestnut tree and watered it together in unity. I'm honored to have been a small part of their special day! Congrats you two! I can't wait to finish up your full wedding gallery of photos!
