Kallan and Preston met during graduate school at San Jose State University. They had a first date at Maggiano's in Santana Row, where the table was awkwardly large for two people. But they had no problem keeping the conversation going as they got to know one another and hit a spark. Preston was instantly attracted to Kallan's sense of humor and total goofball personality, while Kallan adores Preston's caring nature.
Their relationship grew and some time later, they were on a roadtrip to Pismo Beach. Preston had planned to propose at the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary but it had rained earlier leaving the ground muddy. Kallan wanted to listen to a ranger talk about butterfly migration, but Preston insisted they leave and go to the beachfront. Kallan knew something was up because he pulled her along walking so fast to the beach. Once they arrived, he dropped to the sand and popped the question. Of course, she SAID YES!
They decided to plan a destination wedding in Colorado, where Kallan is originally from. Brookside Gardens Event Center in Berthoud was a perfect mix of a beautiful lush garden setting, modern greenhouse feel, and proximity to family. Their mid September day arrived warm and beautiful. As harp music played, Kallan walked down the aisle with her dad to a beaming groom. They soaked in the moment together as they poured their unity glass to the music "Married Life" from UP!. These two are outwardly quiet and graceful, but by the time the dance party arrived later in the evening, it was a different story! In fact, one of their favorite wedding day memories was dancing the night away with friends and family.
