April and Cameron's Fall Wedding at Purgatory Resort - Durango Colorado Wedding Photography

April and Cameron met through a mutual friend and shared a first date with dinner at Bucadillo. They were the only customers that evening, and April made Cameron eat goat cheese. From that evening forward, the two of them were best friends. April fell in love with Cameron's energy, sense of adventure, and big heart. Oh, and he can cook! Cameron loves April's independence, compassion for life, and beauty.

They share a love for outdoors in Colorado and find themselves hiking, backpacking, and snowboarding as often as possible. When it came time to propose, Cameron planned a morning hike at Red Rocks near Denver. They enjoyed the ampitheater during the busy morning. After people watching for a bit, Cameron couldn't hold it any longer! April glanced over and thought he was tying his shoe, but he had dropped to a knee to ask her to marry him. And she said YES! Strangers around them caught photos and video of the surreal moment to share with them. What a beautiful moment!

When I met these two, we talked wedding details and engagement photos and I found out about April's beloved 21-year-old cat, Joe. I had the honor of meeting Joe at their engagement session at Red Rocks a short time later, as April and Cameron wanted to include him in some photos. We quickly grabbed a few frames so as not to stress old Joe out, and a friend took Joe home afterwards as we finished their photos. If you missed this great afternoon of exploring around the Red Rocks area, you can catch up here.

April and Cameron chose Dantes ceremony site at Purgatory Resort for the obvious reason: the view. With 180 degree sweeping views of the Colorado peaks, it's a stunning location. We were blessed with literally the best weather possible. With sunshine, a gentle breeze, temps in the 70s, and blue skies for MILES, April and Cameron shared a beautiful first look. April even scheduled a video chat with their cat-sitter friend so she could see Joe on her wedding day. It was heart-warming and special.

When asked about their favorite wedding memory, the couple's response was "we both loved the ceremony! We had a family friend marry us and wrote our own vows it was so special and intimate. I felt like we were the only ones in the world in those moments!"

Their biggest wedding planning advice: "Enjoy the day! Everyone will tell you how fast it goes, that is no joke! Be present, soak it in and focus on the end goal of marrying your best friend!"
